A small update. The fins planned for the shining spear bike (using fins from the flyer kit) are now going to be the fins for all bikes. They just look too good not to use.
I originally planned to just cast the fins separately and attach those to the reaver footrest part, however the join is not the best and getting the angle exactly the same on 15+ bikes doesn’t sound fun, so I decided to join the fins to the part once, blend them together with putty then cast the whole thing. Here is the completed part on it’s own and in place on the bike:
Here is the first stage of mold making for this part showing how you need to contour the plasticene under the part to avoid getting bits embedded in the rubber:
