For January I picked up a D12 with some trepidation and rolled… a 4! Hmm… the Avatar you say? That’s… that’s actually doable! I’ve had this Avatar since approximately 2008. …more
Finish Your Stuff Challenge
At the end of 2018, Yaktribe forum member CaptainDangerous put out this clarion call:
“Do you have a giant pile of untouched plastic sprues? Is there a host of minis sitting on your shelves, unpainted and unloved? Would you like to make a change in 2019 and improve the quality of your collection? Be kind to your Miniatures this next year and sign up to the Finish Your Stuff Challenge!”
I signed up immediately. I identified 12 unfinished projects or groups of miniatures it’d be great to complete, listed them and committed to randomly picking one each month to try and tick off.
The challenge continued in 2020 and this category generally serves as a place to put update posts for anything that doesn’t fit into a specific “project”.

This month my task was to complete 10 Inquisitorial Stormtroopers and 6 Frateris Militia. Both are part of the retinue of Inquisitor Hybris Kronos, a character I created for a …more
July: Asurmen & Wraithblades
Let’s just ignore the huge gap between March and now, shall we? This month, I vowed to finally complete Asurmen (a model I converted in April 2016) and a squad …more
August: Fuegan, Scorpions, Bonesinger & more
August was a bit of a bumper month. I was inspired by July’s return to painting Eldar models so had a dig to see what else I could finish off, …more
September: Adeptus Ministorum
Last month I finally started playing some Kill Team with a club member. We’re playing through the campaign that comes in the Rogue Trader expansion, so I’m using my Elucidian …more
Ministorum Preacher & Arco Flagellant
A preacher, Melchior Mathis. He’s made from an old Empire Sigmarite Priest – fantastic little models to work from, if quite a pain to cut, file and sand away some …more
Finishing Tonnes of Stuff!
This is the final month of the 2019 Finish Your Stuff challenge so I decided to be true to the name and scoured my boxes of (mostly) started but unfinished …more
2020 Goals
There was no monthly challenge on Yaktribe for December. Each month the community voted on their favourite entries, and totalling up those votes across the 2nd half of the year …more
Speed Painted Stormlord
In January I vowed to finish Father Cain & Constance Palamedes. Towards the end of the month I also decided to speed paint a super heavy tank (I’m titling it …more
Start as you mean to go on…
This year I’m re-joining Yaktribe’s “Finish Your Stuff Challenge”. It started this month, presumably giving all the contestants a breather from the end of 2020’s challenge, which I didn’t take …more
Kitbashed/Scratch Eldar Autarch
This Autarch dates from April 2013, so I think it will probably take the trophy for the longest time between being started and finished at a hefty 8 years (oddly, …more
Original Hero Quest
2023 has been turning into another one of those “write off” years where I get almost nothing done. After finishing my Muties at the start of the year and posting …more
Etherfields, Part 1

Hobby plans for 2025
2024 was a bit of a rollercoaster ride of creativity, plastic glue, and paint-stained fingers. As I look forward to 2025, I can’t help but reflect on progress I made …more
